Welcome to the portal for contacting SBS Waterfront Permits.

All applications and documents are filed by appointment only. Please complete the form below to request appointments for filing applications, and for any general inquiries.

For all New Applications Filing Appointments, please start by requesting a Pre-filing Meeting. This is required for all new applications, except TPAs (Temporary Place of Assembly). After the meeting, SBS will issue a Pre-filing Number, which will be required to request Upload Appointments for filing initially. Thereafter, SBS will issue an SBS Application Number, which must be used for all Subsequent Filings, Work Permits, and Closing Out requests.

For Work Permits, contractors must verify that the application is Accepted, and all required TR forms are completed prior to requesting the appointment to upload the application package. Work Permits must be kept valid, and all renewals must be filed well ahead of expiring permits.

For TPAs and AHVs (After Hour Variance), you must file by appointment at least ten business days in advance. Please reach us for appointments at least three weeks prior.

If you are checking on the status, or records for an existing application, then please provide the SBS Application Number. If you are not the owner or the applicant, then you would require a letter of authorization from the owner to request records.

In the Subject Line please include your SBS Application Number, general work location, work scope, and owner’s name. For example: SBS Application Number / Newtown Creek / Bulkhead Repair / DEP
